FAQ

  • Are these real bugs?
Yes! All insects are real, and sourced from butterfly farms around the world. I also use insects I find locally. All insects are already deceased upon reaching me.
  • Do you kill them?
No, all insects arrive to me already deceased. Most are sustainably sourced from butterfly farms across the world, and a few I collect myself after a natural death, or rear and use for my art at the end of their life cycle.
  • How do you preserve them?
Thanks to insects having exoskeletons, very little is needed to preserve them! After the process of pinning them all they need is a dry, non-drafty place away from direct sunlight, and they will stay bright and colorful for years.
  • What kinds of bugs do you use?
Any I can get my hands on! You'll probably most commonly see butterflies and moths in my shop, but have also pinned scorpions, spiders, cicadas and beetles. Products are based on my own creativity and supply and demand, so if you have something in mind that you would like to see feel free to let me know!
  • Where can I put my new art piece/how do I take care of my new product?
Frames, terrariums, and accessories should all be kept in a temperature-controlled environment, away from humidity, and away from direct sunlight. Please do not place your artwork in a bathroom or in the path of frequent sunlight from a window. Most artworks can be safely kept in an office space, living room, bedroom, studio, etc. Resin-coated products such as earrings and charms are not as sensitive to the weather, however keeping them out of the sun will help to keep their colors from fading.
  • I don't want to purchase online. Where else can I find your products?
Besides purchasing online, I regularly attend popup events in and near Tri-Cities, WA. You can also find my products at: Luna Wellness Center: 3330 West Court Street, Unit H, Pasco, WA
  • Do you take customs/commissions?
Yes! I'm happy to make a custom piece. If you are interested in a custom, please contact me with the following information: - type of custom (frame, 3D terrarium or accessory) - insect/s requested, either specific insect names or a description of the appearance you are looking for - any floral, text or other adornments you would like included - any additional details you wish to add Once you have sent me this information I will reach out to you with any questions and details. If you already have a container you are interested in turning into a commissioned piece, I offer a free consultation to determine if your container can be used. Feel free to reach out with any questions about the commission process!
